St. Brigid’s National School
This project arose as part of a major extention to St. Brigid’s N.S. (Scoil Bhríde) in Kilcullen. Ten new classrooms were being built, along with two GP halls and a special needs unit, while other associated site works were also taking place.
Lightning Protection Ireland was contracted to complete lightning protection work on the new extension. This was a somewhat challenging contract as the school remained in full operation throughout the construction and fit-out stages of the new extension, so we and other contractors had to work around this. We achieved through careful planning and close consultation with the school.
The work itself saw us use the metallic roof as its own conductor. We also installed ten 25x3mm PVC down conductors, six low-level bonds, and a total of 16 earths. All work was certified to IS EN 62305.
