Lightning Protection Ireland was contracted to carry out remedial repairs to the lightning protection system at the Pfizer plant in Grangecastle, as per reports provided following a previous site visit.
At locations detailed on the inspection report, lengths of 25x3mm bare copper tape was connected to the existing lightning protection tape by means of a gun metal square clamp. The tape was then bonded to the items of plant by means of a gun metal ‘B’ bond or copper rivets.
At other locations detailed in the report, lengths of bare copper tape were fixed to the roof surface using non-metallic solvent weldable clips. The clips will be installed at 1m centres, with the tape being rolled out over the clips and the lids then being securely fastened.
We continue to maintain a close relationship with Pfizer and we have an annual maintenance contract with them.
